Private and Collectible Asset Management

A Safe Harbor for Valuable Collections

разделитель

Private aircraft, yachts, fine art, collectible automobiles, watches, wine and other exceptional assets require more than meticulous care. Ownership involves a sophisticated framework of legal, tax, technical, insurance, customs, compliance and reputational considerations across multiple jurisdictions and service providers.

Catamaran Family Office establishes a unified owner-side management framework. We coordinate specialist advisers and operators, oversee the implementation of decisions, consolidate information and provide the Principal with clarity regarding ownership structures, asset condition, expenditure, obligations and critical deadlines.

We do not replace licensed advisers, certified professionals or technical specialists. Our role is to design the operating framework, select and coordinate providers, compare professional opinions, identify potential conflicts of interest and independently oversee execution.

One integrated control framework — from acquisition and ownership to succession:

Ownership Architecture —
Together with legal and tax advisers, we design and coordinate ownership models that reflect the nature and intended use of each asset, the family structure, financing arrangements, privacy requirements and succession objectives.

The framework may include SPVs, holding and service companies, usage agreements, separation of personal and corporate expenditure, authority matrices and decision-making protocols. Structures are periodically reviewed to reflect changes in family circumstances, asset-use geography and applicable UAE and international requirements.

Art Banking and Collection Advisory —
We coordinate comprehensive due diligence on the asset, seller and supporting documentation before financial commitments are made. Depending on the asset category, the review may cover title, lawful source, provenance, authenticity, technical condition, encumbrances, movement restrictions, insurance history and projected ownership costs.

Specialist opinions are provided by appropriately qualified independent experts. We consolidate the findings into a single risk map, arrange secure document exchange and oversee the fulfilment of transaction conditions, settlement, transfer of title and completion of a comprehensive transaction file.

International Accounting and Compliance —
We coordinate the accounting, tax and management-reporting framework for assets and ownership structures, engaging specialist advisers in the relevant jurisdictions.

Particular attention is given to source of funds and source of wealth documentation, counterparty due diligence, customs and import-export requirements, applicable taxes and fees, evidence of private or commercial use, and the completeness of records required by banks, insurers, free-zone authorities and other relevant parties.

Privacy and Succession —
Information concerning assets, beneficial owners, locations and movements is maintained within a secure environment with tiered access rights and activity logs. Employees and contractors are subject to clearly defined confidentiality and information-security requirements.

We also integrate private and collectible assets into the family’s succession plan. This includes documenting the Principal’s wishes, usage rules, valuation procedures and arrangements for transfer, sale or division, while ensuring that records are prepared for the next generation, family representatives and trusted fiduciaries.

Independent Oversight of Asset Condition —
We arrange owner-side technical oversight for yachts, aircraft, collectible automobiles and other complex assets. Our objective is to provide an impartial assessment of condition, transparency over operating costs and timely identification of material risks.

Inspections are conducted by specialist engineers, surveyors, classification societies and other qualified experts. We define the scope of work, coordinate specialists, assess the completeness of their reports and monitor the remediation of identified deficiencies.

Outcome: the Principal receives an objective view of the asset’s condition, a register of defects and obligations, a capital-expenditure forecast and a prioritised action plan in a decision-ready format.

Operational Management —
Each asset is supported by a digital passport, an obligations calendar and an expenditure-control model. We coordinate storage, maintenance, logistics, insurance, inventories, valuations, condition documentation and interaction with operators.

For aviation and yachts, the framework may include oversight of registration and operational requirements, maintenance reserves, service cycles and the performance of management companies. For art and collections, it may include museum-grade storage standards, condition reports, provenance records, valuation, transportation and cross-border movement restrictions.

Provider and Cost Control —
We represent the Principal’s interests when dealing with shipyards, aviation operators, galleries, auction houses, custodians, restorers, logistics providers, insurers and other counterparties.

Commercial terms, commissions and potential conflicts of interest are disclosed and documented. Material expenditure is approved in accordance with the authority matrix, while invoices are reconciled against contracts, budgets and evidence of services rendered.

The Principal receives consolidated reporting on budgets, actual expenditure, variances, insured values and the total cost of ownership.

Insurance and Risk Management —
We coordinate an independent review of the insurance programme, including limits, exclusions, territorial scope, deductibles and requirements governing storage and use. We monitor renewal schedules, compliance with policyholder obligations and the remediation of coverage gaps.

When an insured event occurs, we coordinate document collection and communication between the Principal, broker, insurer, valuers and legal advisers. For critical assets, response protocols may be established for damage, loss, detention, cyber incidents or the failure of a key operator.
